Costs rise again! Russian e-commerce company WB starts charging warehousing fees

According to foreign media reports, Russia's largest e-commerce platform Wildberries (hereinafter referred to as "WB") began charging warehousing fees from today, with fees ranging from 15 to 570 rubles (approximately 1 to 49 yuan).

WB is charging a warehousing fee for most of its product categories in its warehouse in the Koledino Industrial Park , which is located in the Podolsk region of Moscow, the capital of Russia. WB's warehouse here is also its main warehouse.

Due to the large volume of cargo flow in the warehouse, this move may affect the sales of the warehouse. After all, after charging the warehouse entry fee, sellers will undoubtedly reconsider new logistics plans.

The company’s decision is part of WB’s internal policy to free up storage space at the Koledino Industrial Park warehouse and relocate sellers to store their goods at another logistics center that opened last summer in the Zelenodolsk region of Tatarstan.

According to foreign media, the workload of WB's warehouse in Koledino Industrial Park is very high , which is one of the reasons why WB wants to vacate the warehouse storage space. During the peak sales period before the New Year this year, due to the heavy workload of the warehouse, WB also notified the seller that the warehouse was temporarily "not accepting deliveries". Previously, the number of warehouses was restricted, but now it is restricted by warehouse entry fees.

"All these signals point to WB's efforts to protect its warehouse in the Koledino Industrial Park," said Oleg Nevorotov, co-founder and CEO of Upmarket . "To date, the warehouse is the most popular 24/7 logistics center, which handles thousands of shipments a day. But as WB's other warehouses emerge and grow, WB needs to make corresponding changes."

The warehouse entry fee will be charged according to the product category. The entry fee for categories such as children's products, toys, accessories, tableware and other household and garden products is 15 to 30 rubles. Large seasonal items are higher, such as refrigerators for 570 rubles, sinks for 515 rubles, and workbenches for 500 rubles.
