This year's Prime Day will be held from July 12 to July 13. As the biggest promotion day of the year, many consumers plan to shop online on Prime Day .
According to a survey by BlackFriday.com , 88 % of Americans plan to shop online on Prime Day this year, with an average spending of $233 per person .
Although Amazon has expanded Prime Day to new markets, U.S. consumers still contribute more than 60% of global sales.
Recently, research organization data.ai released the latest research on Americans' consumption mentality on Prime Day .
Data shows that globally, due to the rising cost of living caused by inflation , most consumers are looking for low-priced goods , so the time spent on mobile devices will increase. It is expected that during the week of Prime Member Day, global consumers will break records and spend more than 1 billion hours on shopping apps on Android phones (excluding China) , an increase of nearly 40% over last year's Prime Member Day week.
Americans’ spending behavior is changing , as evidenced by the time consumers spend on mobile shopping apps .
data.ai estimates that U.S. shoppers will spend 70 million hours in shopping apps on Android phones during Prime Day this year .
In 2020-2021, Americans spent $1.7 trillion online , with PC and mobile spending increasing by 55%. From 2018 to 2021, the time U.S. consumers spent on mobile shopping in the second week of July soared 120% , and online shopping time in the same period this year is expected to increase by 213 % compared to 2018. The above data shows that the time American consumers spend on shopping apps is increasing .
This year's Prime Day hot-selling products in the US market have also changed compared to previous years. Compared with high-priced goods such as luxury goods , low-priced daily necessities tend to be more resistant to the impact of inflation . Therefore, it is expected that low-priced daily necessities will be hot-selling in the US market this year, while sales of high-priced goods such as electronic products will decline. At the same time, the arrival of seasonal activities (holidays, summer activities and back to school) will also drive a surge in sales of clothing and accessories products .
This year, Amazon offered free Prime Day trials for the first time in an effort to attract new users to the platform and compete with other retailers.
Despite fierce sales competition among retailers , Amazon ranked first in global shopping app downloads during Prime Day last week on June 20 , followed by SHEIN and Shopee . Amazon still ranks first in usage time of major shopping apps worldwide in May 2022. Therefore, Amazon is the first choice for consumers to shop online, and the market demand is very high.
(Image source: data.ai ) According to eMarketer data , total sales in the U.S. market during Amazon Prime Day this year are expected to grow 16.8% to $7.76 billion .
Prime Day is the annual shopping carnival day, and the traffic and sales it brings are still very impressive , so sellers in the US market can remain looking forward to it. US e-commerce market Consumer Behavior |
