According to foreign media reports, on February 18 local time , many European countries including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Ireland were hit by a strong Atlantic storm with wind speeds reaching 160 kilometers per hour . The British Meteorological Office issued two red storm warnings and stated that Storm Eunice may cause serious damage to the local area and is likely to threaten people's lives, reminding the public to avoid going out .

 

It is understood that the strong storm has so far killed at least 9 people, including Dutch, Belgians and Irish.

 

Frank Saunders, chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "Storm Eunice will bring damaging gusts and could be one of the most significant storms to hit southern and central Britain in years .

 

Currently, the strong storm has caused power outages to tens of thousands of households in Europe, and more than 55,000 households, farms and businesses have been without power along the road from the UK to Ireland .

 

In addition, local road traffic, port terminals and flights have also been severely affected by the strong storm. It is understood that Storm Eunice has paralyzed most parts of the UK, severely damaged road traffic , and hundreds of flights and railway lines have been canceled. On February 18, local time, London City Airport in the UK canceled all flights for the day.

 

The Port of Dover in the English Channel was also forced to close due to the storm , passenger and freight vehicles from the UK to various European countries were also forced to suspend, and the Irish Sea crossings connecting Dublin to Wales or Belfast to Scotland were also cancelled.

 

At present, the storm is moving towards the European continent. Countries such as Belgium, Denmark and Germany have issued strong wind warnings one after another. The strong storm is very likely to have a serious impact on local logistics and transportation.
