AliExpress Russia may IPO in 2022

AliExpress Russia is jointly owned by Alibaba Group, Mail.ru Group, Megafon and Russian Direct Investment Fund   ( RDIF ) was established in 2019 to develop e-commerce in Russia. Some time ago, MegaFon sold its stake in AliExpress Russia and USM International became a new shareholder member.

 

Recently, the investment director of Mail.ru Group said that it may go public in 2022.

 

Mail.ru Group said, "When we were founded in 2019, we envisioned going public within three to five years. Theoretically, this goal is certainly achievable. We have also been preparing for a listing, and it is not impossible for it to be listed next year." At the same time, the representative also emphasized that all of this is just a prediction, and no specific decision has been made.

 

Just recently, Mail.ru Group also invested an additional $60.3 million in AliExpress Russia in exchange for additional shares in the joint venture as part of a new offering. Currently , Mail.ru Group owns 15% of the economic share and 17.6% of the voting rights of AliExpress Russia .

 

The additional funds will be mainly used to actively develop logistics, expand product categories, improve service levels and improve customer experience . It will accelerate the development of AliExpress Russia in the local market and also drive the development of the entire company.

 

Thanks to the development of Russian e-commerce, the AliExpress Russian platform has also seen significant growth, and plans to open an order fulfillment center in the Moscow area . It is reported that a long-term warehouse lease has been issued for the development of local payments, and the basic logistics information will continue to be improved.

 

AliExpress Russia also stated in a press release: " We are considering various options for developing logistics to improve local delivery , with the goal of maximizing logistics in the near future . " And just a few days ago, AliExpress Russia also opened its own service center locally , which can receive and process requests from buyers and sellers from various communication channels, which will help solve problems that arise when interacting with the platform and further enhance the customer experience.

 

As the local e-commerce market becomes increasingly mature, we can also wait and see the subsequent development of AliExpress in Russia.
