Google joins hands with Shopify to help online e-commerce expansion

Recently, Google announced a partnership with e-commerce platform Shopify. More than 1.7 million Shopify merchants will be able to easily promote themselves on Google’s new service , Shopping Graph .

It is reported that the " Shopping Graph " recently launched by Google covers Google services such as Google Search , Google Maps, and YouTube. The conclusion of this cooperation means that Shopify 's independent website sellers will soon be able to achieve all-round sales promotion on Google product platforms without any effort .

Google said that the newly launched "Shopping Map " service can integrate information from various websites, product prices , reviews, promotional videos , and product data obtained directly from brands and retailers to better provide product intelligence for online consumers .

For example, when a consumer views a screenshot of a product in Google Photos, Shopping Maps will automatically recommend that they search for the photo using Google Lens and go directly to the product’s sales page .

But before the " shopping map " function can really work, Google needs to ensure that consumers can find the right target products through Google 's various services . Therefore, in the past year , Google has allowed merchants to promote their products on Google product platforms for free to encourage merchants . This move has led to an 80% surge in the number of merchants promoted on Google , most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises.

At the beginning of 2021, Google announced that it would develop and test a new feature on its video platform YouTube . This new feature will support consumers to directly purchase recommended products while watching videos . This move is to counter the growing threat from TikTok and Facebook in online e- commerce marketing .

As major social media platforms compete to cooperate with e-commerce platforms, Shopify, a leader among e-commerce platforms, may be the biggest winner.

In addition to Google, Shopify also has relevant cooperation with TikTok, Facebook and Walmart , continuously expanding the sales promotion market for Shopify independent site sellers .

At present, Google has not provided details of this cooperation . From the existing information, the implementation of this cooperation may enable Shopify sellers to achieve matrix marketing on social media platforms, and the results are worth looking forward to.
