Ranking of the most commonly used online shopping apps by Koreans in March

It is undeniable that thanks to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the new e-commerce market in South Korea has encountered unprecedented development opportunities. According to the global Mobile Application Growth Report jointly released by Adjerst and Facebook, e-commerce applications are growing fastest in South Korea and Vietnam due to the activation of mobile business mayors/markets .

 

Competition in South Korea’s domestic e-commerce market is becoming increasingly fierce .   / WiseRetail used Android + iOS smartphone users aged 10 and above as the survey sample , and targeted shopping apps on Google Play and App Store to estimate the number of people who used online shopping apps more than once in March 2021. ( This survey does not include second-hand trading apps, Naver, Kakao   talk

 


The most popular shopping app across all generations was “Coupang,” which was used 8 billion times by 21.5 million users in the month of March.

 

Following closely behind are 11th Street with 7.45 million active users in March , Gmarket with 5.77 million, We Make Price with 4.49 million, TMON with 4.22 million and Today's House with 4.84 million.

 

There are big differences in the shopping apps used by different age groups . The usage habits of people in their teens and twenties are different from those in their thirties and fifties .

 

Among teenagers in their teens , the most used shopping apps are Coupang , Able , Zigzag , 11th Street , Musinsa and Style Share .

 

Among young people in their 20s, the most commonly used apps are Coupang , Zigzag , Musinsa , A b ly , Ideas and 11th Street .

 


Among users in their 30s and 40s , the most commonly used apps are Coupang , 11th Street , Gmarket , We Make Price , T MON, Today's House , and GS SHOP .

 

For users aged 50 and above , the most commonly used apps are Coupang, 11th Street, Home & Shopping, Gmarket, GS SHOP and Auction .

 

South Korea has one of the largest and fastest-growing e-commerce markets in the world, with about two-fifths of online transactions conducted online. With surging consumer demand, South Korea 's e-commerce market is expected to grow further in this highly competitive stage . It is expected that e-commerce will become an important driving force for South Korea's economic growth in 2021.
