Data shows that in 2020, the electronics and home appliances sector was the fastest growing category on the Wildberries platform , reaching 45.2 billion rubles , or about 4 billion yuan . At the same time, Wildberries ' turnover last year almost doubled to 437.2 billion rubles.
In terms of order quantity, online orders in online stores of home appliances and electronic products increased by 80% . In the sales of home appliances and electronic products as a whole, the total order volume of the top 1,000 sellers was 98 million , with a total sales volume of 753 billion rubles , an average of 76,800 rubles.
In the entire Russian e-commerce market, in 2020, the order volume of household appliances and electronic products accounted for 12% and sales accounted for 29%.
Prior to this, Citylink was the largest player in the online retail market for home appliances and electronics , followed by DNS and M.Video. In addition to Wildberries, the top ten e-commerce platforms for electronics also include Eldorado, Online Trade.ru, Ozon, MTS, Svyaznoy, and DNS Technopoint.
According to Gfk, the M.Video-Eldorado Group (including two networks ) ranked first in the e-commerce home appliances and electronics market in 2020 with a market share of 33% .
Wildberries also said, "Nowadays, more and more electronic products are beginning to try e-commerce sales channels. From January to August, the number of sellers selling electrical appliances and electronic products through the Wildberries platform has increased nearly five times compared to last year. We see the huge potential of this category in the e-commerce market, and we are constantly cooperating with Russian and international sellers to create more sales opportunities for both parties. "
In July this year , in order to expand its partnership with electronics and home appliance retailers , Wildberries also announced the launch of a policy for sellers to ship directly . Sellers who use this new model to deliver the goods themselves will receive a commission of 5%.
Previously, ABN reported that Wildberries founder Tatyana Bakalchuk's wealth increased by 1,200% year-on-year due to the growth of Wildberries' turnover.
