What is Public.com? Public.com Review, Features

Public is an investment platform that allows people to invest in stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, art, NFTs, collectibles, and more.

About Public.com

Public.com was founded in 2017, and its social investment app was launched in September 2019, allowing members to buy shares of any publicly listed US company or exchange-traded fund (ETF) for $5, with no commission. Its target users can basically be described as investment novices. Although stocks can be bought for $5 without charging commissions, the company's rules do not allow day trading: transactions in cash accounts require two business days for funds to be "fully settled" before they can be used to buy and sell stocks again.

Public.com Services

Public's platform helps people become better investors by accessing custom company metrics, live shows about the markets, and real-time analysis. Members take control of how they invest using a powerful set of tools and gain insights from a community of millions of investors, creators, and analysts.

Advantages of Public.com

  • We work for you, not a trading company

Everything we do is designed to help people become better investors. At Public, you are the customer, not some trading firm or unknown third party. This allows us to build the best products for you, not for others.

  • We are not involved in the order payment process

We do not sell your trades to market makers or other third parties. Instead, we route all orders directly to exchanges and other execution venues. This not only keeps us aligned with you, the client, but also enables us to execute every order at the best price, not just a slightly better price.

  • Safe and reliable platform

We are a fully regulated broker-dealer with securities protection in your account up to $5 million (see www.sipc.org for details). All accounts are protected by bank-grade secure AES 000-bit encryption, TLS for secure data transfer and default two-factor authentication for additional protection.
