Yien.com learned that SF Express International recently launched the country's first "China-South Korea" sea freight e-commerce express in Weihai. This route can realize six sea freight flights to South Korea every week , providing cross-border e-commerce companies on both sides of the Taiwan Strait with two-way direct sea freight trunk line logistics services from China to major ports such as Incheon in South Korea .
At present , 9 sea routes have been opened from Weihai to Incheon, Pyeongtaek, Gunsan, Busan and other ports in South Korea , with 22 passenger, cargo and container flights per week.
It is understood that 6% of Korean cosmetics, food and daily necessities entering China enter through the Weihai port, and about 14% of domestic exports to South Korea are assembled and exported in Weihai . The logistics agglomeration effect of Weihai on South Korea has been initially formed.
Weihai Customs officially started the cross-border e-commerce export business model in 2015. In 2018, the State Council approved the establishment of the China (Weihai) Cross-border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone.
Data shows that from January to November 2020, the city's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports reached 2.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 72.5%.
In December 2020 , the Weihai Municipal Government signed a cooperation agreement with SF Express Co., Ltd. to explore the integration of port resources in South Korea, Japan and other countries, leverage the Incheon Airport to radiate globally, and build Weihai into a logistics center hub city connecting the domestic hinterland with South Korea, Japan, Europe, the United States and even the world.
Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, international sea and air transport capacity has dropped sharply, logistics prices have soared, and international logistics channels have been blocked, becoming a new bottleneck restricting foreign trade exports.
The launch of SF Express’s international sea freight e-commerce express service to South Korea will effectively reduce companies’ international logistics costs, improve the transportation efficiency of export goods, and provide impetus for companies to expand into international markets.
Previously, the Ministry of Commerce had highly recognized Weihai's experience and practices in the "four-port linkage" and expressed its full support for "Shandong Weihai Comprehensive Pilot Zone and Incheon, South Korea to explore the 'four-port linkage', and realize information exchange, mutual recognition of supervision, and mutual assistance in law enforcement between seaports and airports."
In addition, Weihai Customs also fully supports the development of cross-border e-commerce formats, giving full play to Weihai's advantages such as its proximity to Japan and South Korea, dense sea and air transport routes, and the ability to depart in the morning and arrive in the evening. Based on the policies of the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, it supports the coordinated development of cross-border e-commerce direct purchase imports and exports and bonded stock imports and exports , helping Weihai's cross-border e-commerce business to grow and develop .
