Amazon develops new system to compete for market share and help sellers

According to foreign media reports, Amazon is currently developing a third-party sales system ( POS). However, this news has pros and cons for different groups. According to reports, the stock prices of Shopify, Square and PayPal all fell after the news was released, among which PayPal has always been considered a giant in the US delivery market.

It is worth noting that the idea of establishing this system was proposed by a team within Amazon that tracks the core audience of Shopify's small merchants. Judging from the proposer of the idea and the field it is entering, it is inevitable that people will wonder whether Amazon is going to compete with Shopify, Square, PayPal and others for the payment market.

This may be a new "strong enemy" for the giants in the payment market, but it may be good news for some sellers. Although Amazon's ban has hit the confidence of many Chinese sellers, the new functions and systems developed by Amazon recently are mainly aimed at sellers.

The POS system developed by Amazon this time is called Project Santos, which is a new type of sales system. According to documents reviewed by Insider for Amazon's internal review, the system can be sold to third-party sellers and adds an Amazon checkout option . Its main function is to help sellers process online and offline transactions and conduct inventory and business analysis . The documents also explain how the system will be linked to Amazon's other services such as the Prime membership program, Prime and Flex.

An Amazon official said that the development of this system will enable small business (SMB) customers to manage online and offline channels and inventory in a unified manner. Amazon will also provide Amazon One for contactless identification and payment, and provide a customized loyalty program for Prime members.

In addition, in addition to planning to promote the system online, Amazon may also promote the system to the physical stores currently planned by Amazon. There is no clear news on when the system developed by Amazon will be promoted and used.
