Will lose 2.4 trillion yen! Tokyo Olympics may be held without spectators

According to Japanese media reports, the Tokyo Olympics has become the focus of attention given public concerns about the new coronavirus epidemic .

It is reported that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics have been postponed for one year due to the epidemic, and are scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8 and August 24 to September 5 this year, respectively .

If the Tokyo Olympics is held without spectators, Japan will face huge financial pressure. Japanese experts estimate that if the Tokyo Olympics is held without spectators, the loss will reach about 2.4133 trillion yen (about 145 billion yuan) .

The estimate is based on relevant data released by the Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. Since there will be no spectators in the venues to cheer for the athletes, sales revenue of various Olympic-related products will be halved, resulting in a loss of approximately 280.8 billion yen (approximately 17 billion yuan).

In addition, about 90% of the consumption expenditure of Olympic participants and spectators will be lost , amounting to about 381.3 billion yen (about 22.9 billion yuan).

At the same time, it will also have an impact on international image production and transmission costs (a decrease of approximately 27.8 billion yen) and corporate marketing activity costs (a decrease of approximately 29.9 billion yen).

In addition, the legacy effects, culture, education, cutting-edge technology and other aspects after the closing of the Olympics will not achieve the previously expected results, which will evaporate 1.0527 trillion yen; plus the loss of 640.8 billion yen caused by the one-year postponement, the total loss will reach 2.4133 trillion yen.

According to experts' estimates, if the Tokyo Olympics is cancelled, the losses will be about 4.5151 trillion yen (about 271.7 billion yuan), and if it is simplified, the losses will be 1.3898 trillion yen (about 83.6 billion yuan).

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga previously said that a decision on the issue of live audiences will be made by the end of March.

In addition, Kyodo News reported on the 9th that the Japanese government has basically decided that the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will not accept ordinary spectators from overseas, and the torch relay departure ceremony on March 25 will also be held without live audiences.

The report quoted an official as saying: "The organizing committee decided to hold the departure ceremony behind closed doors in Fukushima Prefecture in the northeast, allowing only torch relay participants and invitees to attend to avoid large crowds during the epidemic."

At present, the epidemic in Japan is still spreading, with more than 440,000 confirmed cases in total . Japan is facing great pressure to prevent the epidemic, and the future situation is unpredictable. Sellers should pay more attention to industry trends and logistics information, formulate appropriate marketing strategies, and avoid major property losses.
