Noise pollution in South Korea brings new business opportunities, sales of noise reduction products soar 296%

Due to the impact of the new crown epidemic , Korean people have spent more time at home, and various activities have been carried out at home, so the probability of noise pollution between floors has further increased.

To avoid exacerbating conflicts between neighbors, many Koreans have recently begun to spend time on reducing noise. Sellers should note that sales of noise-proof earplugs for work or sleep, noise-free keyboards, and floors and mats that reduce inter-floor noise are rising sharply.

Sales of sound insulation and shockproof products increased by 296%

According to CCTV Finance, in the past two months , the sales of noise-reducing floor mats on the Korean e-commerce platform We Make Price have nearly doubled year-on-year, and the sales of indoor noise-reducing slippers and noise-reducing foot pads for tables, chairs and sofas have increased by 86% and 37% respectively . The number of "anti-noise earplugs" worn on the ears has increased by 122%.

During the same period, sales of carpets and slippers also rose by 49% and 39% respectively . Sales of "noiseless keyboards", which are mainly purchased by office workers, also increased by 41%.

An employee of Naver Smart Store also said : " The sales of soundproofing and shockproofing products in January increased by 65% compared with the same period last year . "

According to data from the Korea Environment Corporation , due to the fact that many people worked, exercised and entertained themselves from home after the outbreak of the epidemic, the number of complaints about inter-floor noise received by relevant Korean agencies from residents in the community exceeded 40,000 for the first time last year .

It is reported that the number of inquiries received on inter-floor noise in South Korea last year was 42,250, an increase of 60% from 2019 (26,257).

Exercise mats are also selling well as the number of "home training" increases.

After analyzing the reasons , the results showed that "the sound of running or walking " accounted for 61.4%, the sound of hammers (4.7%), the sound of closing furniture (4.6%), opening and closing doors (2%), and the sound of musical instruments (1.1%) .

In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic , noise has become a social problem in South Korea . Noise-related products are very popular , and the "noise industry" is also becoming a special need of the Korean people.
