AliExpress opens the overseas sales channel for cat and dog food!

Cat food and dog food can finally be shipped overseas in packages through cross-border e-commerce!

 

In June, AliExpress took the lead in launching the pet food category, opening up a new retail channel for domestic pet food factories to expand overseas.

 

According to data from market research company Packaged Facts , pet food accounts for the largest market share in the pet category, up to 75%, and China is one of the major exporters of pet food in the world. In the past, pet food could only be exported through traditional trade or in the form of bulk stocking in overseas warehouses . After the opening of AliExpress's " Pet Food Line", cat food, dog food, and cat canned food can be sold overseas in the form of cross-border small packages for the first time.

At present, pet food factories can choose to enter AliExpress in a fully or semi-managed mode , with the platform being responsible for operations , logistics and other aspects. Pet factories with zero cross-border experience can also easily go overseas.

 

"We have been processing pet food for more than a decade , and the quality fully meets overseas food standards. However, we have previously shipped pet food in bulk. We never imagined that such a large item as pet food could be sold in bags, " said the head of a pet food factory located in the Nanhe Industrial Belt of Xingtai, Hebei Province. "This is a groundbreaking innovation for our industry."

 

Nanhe, Xingtai, Hebei is the world's largest pet food production base and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Pet Food". In addition, from the perspective of the distribution of pet food companies going overseas, Shandong, Zhejiang, Liaoning and Jiangsu are also major gathering places. Currently, AliExpress is vigorously recruiting investors around related industrial belts.

 

According to a pet industry clerk at AliExpress, OEM was the main business model for Chinese pet food companies to start out, and it is still the main source of income for some companies . Many foreign big-name pet food brands are OEMed by Chinese factories. The quality and safety of domestic cat and dog food are not inferior to foreign big-name brands, but the price is really favorable.

 

In recent years , competition in the domestic pet food industry has intensified, and more and more pet food factories are seeking transformation. AliExpress has opened up the pet food category, allowing a large number of source factories to enter the new cross-border retail track, directly facing overseas consumers, greatly improving profit margins, and getting rid of dependence on OEM or bulk trade exports.
