With 19 million downloads, Temu has established itself in this European country

After its success in the United States, Temu has also become popular with British consumers.

According to British media reports, the Tmeu application has been downloaded at least 19 million times in the UK since it went online in April 2023.

Industry insiders believe that in addition to low prices, Temu's success is related to the use of different strategies in different markets; facts have also proved that this approach is correct.

Nick Carroll, category director of Mintel's retail insights department , said in an interview that unlike other e-commerce platforms entering the UK market, Temu uses a roulette game approach to discounts, which makes "discounts" easier and more interesting.

In addition, Tmeu is also very good at using social media platforms. Many influential people on social media channels are telling consumers, "Have you seen this (Temu)?" In this way, Temu gradually enters the consumer's field of vision and attracts the attention of consumers.

Nick Carrol believes that Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms like Temu are very good at attracting consumers, and this attraction is long-lasting; many brands only want to make a one-time sale, but these Chinese brands focus on user loyalty, which helps them stand out in the market.

Some commentators also compared Temu with other e-commerce platforms known for their low prices, arguing that when Temu entered the UK market, shoppers gave it high ratings and recommendations; in contrast, the compared platforms were abandoned by consumers because of poor product quality.

The commentator also said that Temu obviously has to work with suppliers to ensure that quality keeps up; as people's consumption confidence increases and their spending power recovers, they may switch to more products and brands; therefore, paying attention to product quality will be very important in the future.

Nick Carrol also believes that brands can offer low prices in the market, but they must also pay attention to user needs; this is exactly where many Chinese brands do very well.

In addition, many analysts predict that the success of platforms such as Temu will drive more Chinese cross-border e-commerce platforms to enter the UK market.
