Amazon India has been around for 10 years since its establishment in 2013. Now, India has become Amazon's fifth largest site.
Recently, Manish Tiwary, Amazon India consumer business manager , revealed that the Indian site has added 300,000 sellers this year, a figure that has brought the number of sellers in India to over 1.4 million.
In addition to the significant increase in the number of sellers, the Indian site also ushered in the largest Prime Day and Great Indian Festival in history this year.
It is reported that during this year's Prime Day, the number of Prime members shopping on the platform increased by 14% compared to last year; the discounts brought by sellers, brands and banks enabled Indian users to save 3 billion rupees.
During the Great Indian Festival this year , more than 38,000 sellers achieved the highest single-day sales; 6,500 sellers increased their sales fivefold; 31,000 sellers achieved sales of more than 100,000 rupees. Sales in the fashion category increased threefold compared to 2022, and sales of beauty products increased by 70%. In order to achieve better development, Amazon has never relaxed its investment in India.
Earlier this year, Amazon launched the Amazon Air service in India, becoming the first e-commerce platform in India to have a dedicated air route. In order to better deliver packages, it then developed rail transport in India, becoming the first company in India to use a dedicated rail line.
While developing its distribution network, Amazon has not forgotten its promise to increase the cumulative export volume of small and micro enterprises to US$20 billion by 2025. It has actively helped Indian small and micro enterprises to export and created 2 million jobs in India.
Earlier this year, the company's CEO met with the Indian Prime Minister and promised that the company would invest an additional $15 billion over the next seven years.
Last month, Amazon also signed a memorandum of agreement with India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade to provide capacity-building courses, training courses and seminars for small and medium-sized enterprises in 75 regions of India.
Speaking of the future development of the Indian site, Tiwary is looking forward to it and said that Amazon will continue to work hard to enable more Indian customers to enjoy high-quality online shopping services and help more small businesses go global, while not forgetting its mission of sustainable development.
