Amazon may recall products on sale! Involving multiple brands and more than ten ASINs

Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that it plans to recall fire extinguisher balls sold on the Amazon platform due to extreme safety hazards.

It is understood that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated in a statement that the fire extinguisher balls of LVYXON, TATTCHINE, ARMYJY, PETSTIBLE, HelloPharma, Vixuiyz and JHEUAYK brands currently sold on the Amazon platform may cause burns or smoke inhalation to users and cannot extinguish fires. In serious cases, it may cause serious injury or death.

“In addition, these products have no pressure gauges or pressure indicators, no lockout devices to reduce the risk of accidental discharge, no automatic shutoff valves for intermittent discharge, and no nozzles to direct the discharge,” the safety board wrote in the statement.

In fact, many people are unfamiliar with fire extinguisher balls and don't know what they are. According to Firetech Global, a company that produces fire safety products, fire extinguisher balls are round fire extinguishers that automatically activate after three to five seconds of exposure to fire.

"It releases a non-toxic fire extinguishing agent and can extinguish fires within a three cubic metre radius," the Australia-based company wrote on its website.

After investigation, it was found that the recalled fire extinguisher balls were mostly made of red plastic, with diameters ranging from 4 inches to 7 inches and weights ranging from 1 pound to 3 pounds.

According to foreign media reports, these products also include a bracket that can be mounted on the wall. These products usually have a label with orange and red letters and say "fire extinguisher ball."

After searching on Amazon, I found that the price of such products is about US$25 to US$120. However, perhaps because the products are relatively niche, most listings only have a few or dozens of reviews.

For consumers who have already purchased the product, the safety committee recommends turning the balls in to your local fire department or disposing of them at a hazardous materials disposal site.
