The business of cross-border merchants is recovering rapidly. A research report by AliExpress, a cross-border e-commerce platform, shows that nearly 80% of merchants believe that China's overall cross-border export situation will be stable and improving in 2023. The scale of China 's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports has increased nearly 10 times in the past five years . With the advantages of online transactions and short transaction chains, cross-border e-commerce is favored by foreign trade companies.
"We prepared 10,000 watches before the Lunar New Year, but on the second day of the Lunar New Year, we received news that several models had been sold out," said Cedar, founder of Zeblaze, a smartwatch brand on the AliExpress platform. They took a holiday as usual during the Spring Festival this year, and sales increased by 200% year-on-year.
During the Spring Festival, although many businesses are on holiday, the business on the AliExpress platform has not stopped. Merchants only need to prepare the goods in the official foreign trade warehouse in advance, and the platform will take the order and ship it, realizing "people on holiday, goods still shipped".

The domestic home appliance brand Midea also had a good start on the cross-border e-commerce platform . At the beginning of the new year, Midea's sweeping robots have received orders from many countries including Spain, France, and Russia on AliExpress. Thousands of sweeping robots were shipped overseas in the first month of the year.
"This year, our capsule coffee machine exports are expected to grow by more than 25%." Zeng Qiuping, founder of the domestic coffee machine brand HiBREW , is full of confidence in the new year. They just opened up the new market of South Korea on AliExpress last year. By directly facing consumers through cross-border e-commerce platforms and controlling channels and R&D themselves, small and medium-sized cross-border merchants are unlocking greater profit margins.
At the same time, cross-border merchants are also increasing their requirements for cross-border platforms , which are mainly reflected in three aspects: first, providing high-quality comprehensive foreign trade services for small and medium-sized enterprises ; second, increasing overseas promotion efforts; and third, providing targeted training .
To this end, cross-border e-commerce platforms have launched new services and new models to further lower the threshold for going overseas. For example, the "hosting service" that has emerged in recent years allows merchants to focus on R&D and supply, and the complex logistics, operations, after-sales and other links can be handed over to the platform. Among the current domestic mainstream cross-border e-commerce platforms "going overseas four little dragons", AliExpress, Temu , and SHEIN have all launched similar services.
