The reason for the decline in orders has been found! There is a bug in the Amazon checkout page

It is understood that within about an hour on Wednesday morning Eastern Time , thousands of Amazon consumers reported that they received error messages when checking out .

Amazon explained to consumers that this was because the merchant was currently facing "unusually heavy traffic."

Some Amazon sellers also said they noticed the impact of the webpage crash on order volume . Ethan Goldstein, CEO of Amazon's online pharmaceutical sales brand Curist, said , " In the morning , I noticed that sales were down a lot ."

Goltz added that by 9 a.m. , orders were 95% lower than yesterday. By 10 a.m., orders were still 34% lower than the day before .

According to data from network detection agency Down Detector, the problem peaked at around 9:07 a.m. on the 7th , affecting Amazon consumers across the United States and around the world . Affected users received error messages indicating that they could not complete checkout.

The latest data from Down Detector shows that more than 14,000 consumers have been unable to check out due to this .

The cause of the outage was unclear, other than Amazon citing heavy traffic . When reached for comment, Amazon spokesperson Betsy Hadden said : " We apologize for the issues some customers are experiencing with their purchases . We ask for your patience as we work to resolve this issue . "

At 11:44 a.m. EST yesterday , Amazon posted , “We have resolved the issue and everything is back to normal now .

Two days ago, Amazon 's Web Service (AWS) also suffered an outage , which shows that this incident was not accidental .

Fahim Naim, Amazon head at e-commerce consultancy Advantage, said some sellers had difficulty logging on to Amazon on December 7 , but the actual impact remained to be seen.

Shoppers also expressed their frustration on Twitter , with one Twitter user posting: " It would have been nice if Amazon had acknowledged there was a problem sooner , it's already been half an hour.

Domestic sellers also discussed this issue, and one asked on Weibo: "How are your orders?"

In the following replies, the sellers started to complain:

"The number of orders is half of yesterday!" "Why haven't there been any orders for several hours?"

However, some sellers are still optimistic and joked: "I finally found the reason why there are no orders. It turns out it's not my problem."

Although Amazon did not explain the reason for the website crash, fortunately the problem was resolved in a timely manner and did not cause further losses to the sellers.
