You can’t give the right instructions but still want your employees to give you feedback?

You can’t give the right instructions but still want your employees to give you feedback?

(This article is contributed by "Cross-border Seller Qige")

What often gives Amazon bosses a headache is the poor execution of their employees.

When you feel that your employees’ execution is poor, there must be something wrong with your leadership .

Military orders are like mountains! When an order is conveyed within the army, the soldiers need to repeat it and execute it.

When the flight attendant closes the cabin door on the plane, one person needs to do it and the other needs to confirm it.

When you send out a command and receive no feedback, it is likely that there is something wrong with the command you sent out.

When a problem arises, you must first look for the problem within yourself.

Example 1

Boss: Li Siting, the day before yesterday I asked you to optimize the thermos cup page on the US site. How’s it going?

Li Siting: Boss, did you ask me to optimize the thermos cup page the day before yesterday?

How come I don’t have any impression of this at all!

Boss: Look at the chat history on DingTalk, you are still replying to the emoticons you received!

Li Siting: Let me see the boss.

Uh...it seems like this is the case.

Sorry, boss, I will optimize it right away!

Example 2

Boss: Wang Wuxing, didn’t I ask you to design this thermos cup picture like this?

Didn’t I tell you how DingTalk 1, 2, 3, and 4 were designed?

Why are you so fat?

How can it look like a thermos cup?

You are a stew pot!

Wang Wuxing : Boss, when did you teach me how to design?

Boss: Look at the chat history on DingTalk and you still replied "received". I thought you knew what to do.

Example 3

Mr. Li: The execution of my company's employees is too poor! Few of them complete the tasks assigned to them.

I advocate “Do today’s work today” every day in the company !

But it's no use.

The work is not finished yet and I am about to be killed by them!

When the time comes, it's time to get off work, and the people are gone. Sometimes I really want to call them and ask them to come back and finish the work.

Someone: Lao Li, how did you convey the instructions?

Lao Li: I told them everything verbally and also typed it out for them as 1, 2, 3.

After the instructions were sent out, everyone said they had received them, but there was little feedback!

XXX: Don't worry, Lao Li! You might as well try Brother Qi's method. It seems to be very effective!

Lao Li: Which Seventh Brother?

Someone: It’s Brother Sakata! He has been working at Amazon for seven or eight years, and managing for five or six years. He managed a team from 100 to a few people, and then he managed a team from a few to 100.

Lao Li: What are the methods and steps for Brother Qi to convey instructions? Tell us quickly !

Qige Team Communication Mechanism Guidelines

1. The first step in conveying instructions is “same channel”

The reply must be made through the same channel to ensure that the person who issued the instruction receives it.

The person who cannot issue the instruction gives the instruction via email, but the person who receives the instruction replies via WeChat.

The person who issues the instruction cannot issue the instruction via DingTalk, while the person who receives the instruction replies via WeChat (when the work defaults to DingTalk, you can never be sure that the person who issues the instruction will log into WeChat at any time to check your reply).

The simplest and safest way is to reply and confirm the instruction through the channel used by the person who issued the instruction.

2. The second step of conveying instructions is "the first time"

You must reply immediately, without delay.
Communicate with the person who sent the instruction via text or email. The person who receives the instruction must reply to each reply from the person who sent the instruction, until the person who sent the instruction stops replying.

------ That is , when the person issuing the instruction and the person receiving the instruction communicate, the last sentence should be concluded by the person receiving the instruction.

As long as the person who issued the command replies to you, the person who receives the command must continue to reply until the person who issued the command no longer replies.

Even if you say "goodbye", the last "goodbye" must come from the person receiving the instruction.

3. Convey the third step of the instruction : "Confirmation"

For simple instructions, just reply "Received" .

The communication of complex instructions requires " repeating the content of the instructions ".

Complex tasks cannot be copied and need to be typed manually to confirm when they are expected to be completed and what the implementation points are. If support is needed, it should also be made clear at the same time.

4. The fourth step of conveying instructions is “feedback”

The person who receives the instruction needs to inform the person who issues the instruction when the feedback report can be received, so that the person who issues the instruction can understand the corresponding work status in time.

Accordingly, the feedback mechanism and the communication mechanism correspond to each other ↓↓↓

Qige Team Feedback Mechanism Guidelines

1Feedback Step 1 “Same Channel”

The person receiving the instruction must reply through the same channel to ensure that the person issuing the instruction receives it.

2Feedback Step 2 “First Time”

The completion status must be fed back immediately, without any delay!

Prevent problems from happening overnight.

3Feedback Step 3 “Confirmation”

The person who issues the instruction needs to receive a reply from the person who receives the instruction and confirm that "the instruction content has been completed."
