Shipping schedules are chaotic, containers are in short supply, and freight rates in Southeast Asia are about to rise sharply!

There are reports that freight rates in Southeast Asia are about to rise sharply. Judging from the recent congestion at several ports in Southeast Asia, this news is not groundless. It is also understood that due to the recent winning bids for small ship routes in the Philippines and Japan, countries like Singapore and Malaysia must transfer ships from the Philippines and Japan at high prices, and this operation will also lead to an increase in freight rates in Southeast Asia.

Not only are shipping schedules chaotic, but containers are also very hard to get. The congestion on the US West Coast route has been affecting the transportation plans of shipping companies. In addition, as the end of the year approaches, the volume of shipping within Asia will also increase. Therefore, Southeast Asian shipping will face pressure from container shortages and rising freight rates.

Due to the shortage of ships, freight forwarders have been forced to raise prices urgently, and the countries most affected by this wave of price increases are Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

It is reported that the number of passages to Southeast Asia has decreased and there is a shortage of containers, so the cost has increased significantly. From November 7, 2021, the shipping costs to Malaysia and Thailand will increase by 90 RMB on the original basis, and the sea freight for small packages will increase by 1 RMB/KG.

When shipping schedules are chaotic and freight rates are on the rise, it is very likely that freight rates will rise every day. Some people suggest, "For cargo transportation, go ahead this week, because the highest price this week may be the lowest price next week!"

Throughout the year, freight rates on the US West Coast routes have been soaring due to sea transportation congestion, repeated epidemics in some local areas, and low operating efficiency of US West Coast ports. Now this situation is beginning to happen on Southeast Asian routes.

For many Southeast Asian sellers, the end of the year is the peak season for shipping, but unexpectedly there is this wave of logistics price increases. It is necessary to identify the hot selling trends in the target market in advance and load the goods onto the ocean ships as soon as possible to ensure normal logistics delivery at the end of the year.

Previously, due to the epidemic, delivery delays and rising costs have already caused sellers headaches. Now, with the increase in shipping costs, some buyers said: Costs always take off earlier than orders take off!
