Amazon is sued, and “Made in China” is caught in the crossfire!

Amazon is in trouble again ...

According to foreign media reports, Amazon and a New Jersey seller were recently sued by the Back Bay organization , which accused Amazon of promoting acrylic scarves as "100% cashmere" scarves for sale .

According to the official lawsuit documents , the Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Association ( CCMI ) purchased 14 scarves on Amazon that were claimed to be Scottish cashmere . However, after testing, it was found that these scarves were not actually made in Scotland and their material was not cashmere, but 100% acrylic.

This behavior actually violates relevant laws of the U.S. federal government and Massachusetts regarding false advertising, false names of origin, unfair competition, trademark dilution, intellectual property and contract law .

The CCMI derided the scarf as being made of "a petroleum-based synthetic fiber that is much cheaper than cashmere , less warm, more flammable, and contains harmful chemicals such as dimethylformamide and acrylonitrile, which are not found in cashmere . "

CCMI asked the judge to order Amazon and third-party suppliers to stop promoting and selling the product as cashmere , and that Amazon should pay compensation to consumers who purchased the product under the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act .

Amazon also responded to the matter after receiving the lawsuit notice , stating that the products claiming to be cashmere were mislabeled and that they were not marked as cashmere products last year and the year before.

Although Amazon has admitted that these products are not cashmere products, it has not taken effective measures to correct this problem. When I searched the Amazon website using the trademark name of the sued product, I found that these sued products are still on sale on the Amazon website, and the product titles still have "100% Cashmere".

Netizens have expressed concerns about the quality of goods on Amazon, and "Made in China" is innocently caught in the crossfire! The products being sued are clearly made in Scotland, but in the comments under the foreign media's report on the incident, we can see that many foreign netizens said that because there are thousands of Chinese companies on Amazon, Amazon is flooded with a large number of low-quality products.

China is a manufacturing powerhouse, and "Made in China" is even more related to our country's international image. When sellers conduct cross-border trade, they must strictly control the quality of their products to restore the reputation of "Made in China"!
