eBay partners with Inpost to speed up delivery

InPost has a new partnership with eBay.

Recently, eBay and Inpost have partnered to provide sellers with more convenient delivery options. This cooperation marks InPost's continued expansion in the UK and its commitment to providing flexible solutions for the growing e-commerce market.

For the first time, eBay sellers will now have access to InPost’s 2,500 parcel lockers, enabling them to place packages in lockers for onward delivery to buyers’ homes. With many likely looking to take advantage of consumers’ growing appetite to complete holiday shopping early due to supply chain shortages, this partnership expands the delivery options available to sellers.

This brings great convenience to sellers. With lockers, they can choose to deliver at any time of the day or night. Sellers with relatively low sales may also like InPost's partnership with eBay because they can drop off their goods at the nearest InPost locker and avoid long queues. All sellers have to do is scan their barcode and drop off the package, and the whole process only takes seconds.

The lockers are readily available and located in convenient locations such as train stations, petrol stations and supermarkets, ensuring maximum flexibility, catering to the growing number of casual and ‘sideline’ sellers who require a postal solution . There will also be 250 InPost lockers in the UK co-branded with eBay to celebrate the partnership.

This is an important benefit as the pandemic has led to significant growth in the number of eBay sellers, particularly the rise of the “re-commerce” marketplace. Research published by eBay in March 2021 highlighted that two-thirds of UK sellers began selling second-hand items to earn extra income during the pandemic.

eBay said, “At eBay, we are committed to providing the right tools to simplify the selling experience and help our sellers sell. Our partnership with InPost ensures that sellers have more choices in available delivery methods, providing a convenient mailing method that can save time and money, which is especially important during this busy trading period.”

InPost now has around 2,500 lockers in the UK and plans to have the largest network of automatic parcel machines in the UK, with around 3,000 by the end of this year and more than 10,000 by 2024.
