Sellers, please note! “Same-day delivery” has become a new demand of overseas consumers

According to the latest survey data from foreign media , more and more online shoppers are choosing same-day delivery at checkout . However, due to the epidemic, even Amazon has not been able to meet consumers' expectations for same-day delivery.

Same-day delivery becomes an important demand of consumers placing online orders

In a February 2021 Digital Commerce 360/Bizrate Insights survey of 1,047 shoppers on conversion rates , 68 % of consumers said fast delivery would make them choose to order online .

The pace of “fast shipping” is getting faster and faster, with same-day shipping becoming the latest obstacle that merchants need to overcome. According to data from another month , more than a third ( 36%) of online shoppers have ordered online from an online retailer (such as Amazon.com or 1-800-Flowers.com ) and selected same-day delivery in the past six months.

According to the 2021 Digital Commerce 360/ Bizrate Insights survey of 1,052 omnichannel online shoppers , 24% said they placed an order from an online- only merchant with same-day delivery in the last six months of August 2020 .

Additionally, 26% of shoppers in a February 2021 Omnichannel survey said they had ordered same-day delivery online from a physical store (like Target or Best Buy ) in the past six months, up from 14% in August 2020.

The main factor affecting sellers’ same-day delivery: the surge in logistics pressure

Due to the epidemic , offline stores are closed or need to reduce passenger capacity. More and more consumers want to reduce contact, avoid indoor spaces , and choose to shop online . Online orders have increased suddenly, but transportation carriers are not ready to deliver these packages on time . Data from Convey Inc., a last-mile technology provider, shows that by April 2020, the number of e-commerce packages increased by nearly 60% year-on-year. However, by April 2020 , shipping companies only delivered 76% of online packages on time, lower than the 89% on-time delivery rate in April 2019.

Many consumers were shocked to discover that retailers’ estimated delivery dates for nonessential items were weeks or months in the future, even for Amazon orders.
