Seven-site strike? Amazon employees are going on strike again

Salary disputes have always been a frequent topic in Amazon's "gossip", and the union often goes on strike to fight for higher wages. Now, the strike is here again.

On October 31, local time , the German trade union Verdi called on employees to strike at seven different Amazon sites to resolve a protracted pay dispute, but it is not clear which seven sites they are targeting. According to people familiar with the matter, the strike is scheduled to begin at some distribution centers on Monday, November 1, and may last until Tuesday.

Without providing exact figures, German union Verdi asked Amazon to reach an agreement with Germany's wider retail and mail-order industries to raise wages.

Amazon said in a statement earlier that it would offer excellent pay, benefits and career opportunities, and claimed that, with other extras, employees would earn at least 12 euros ($13.87) per hour .

In the second half of the year, when sales are at their peak and orders are surging, Amazon warehouse workers and truck drivers are facing a tight supply-demand situation. Some time ago, Amazon recruited a large number of part-time and full-time employees at various sites around the world, and said it would provide higher salaries and benefits to prepare for the peak season. It even hopes to recruit marijuana workers to expand its employee base. In this situation, coupled with the workers' strike, this tight supply-demand situation will be aggravated.

In addition to Amazon's employee problems, the situation at the port is not optimistic. Under the serious backlog, Biden had previously advocated that the port operate full-time, but this soon led to a strike by port workers. In order to ease the pressure on the port, the Port of California announced that it would charge fees for overdue containers from November 1 , but the shortage of truck drivers is still a major problem.

From the root cause, the strike is still caused by labor shortage. The workload has increased, but there is still a shortage of manpower. The pressure and workload faced by Amazon employees can be imagined. If this strike is not well resolved, the sellers' goods will surely be affected.
