North American retailers start the final "traffic diversion" battle at the end of the year!

Recently, one-third of the top 100 online retailers in North America have listed specific order deadlines for Christmas delivery on their official homepages in order to attract another group of consumers during Christmas . This approach allows consumers to easily understand the Christmas delivery deadlines .

They also list omnichannel options that won’t delay the consumer’s goods , such as same-day delivery and curbside pickup , which are undoubtedly very attractive compared to delivery dates that are far away.

According to the survey, of the 32 merchants that list deadlines on their homepages , about 81% have deadlines on or before today ( December 20 ) . Five of the retailers even listed December 15 as the deadline for standard shipments , and some retailers listed dates after December 19 , such as Kay Jewelers, which listed December 23 as the deadline for Christmas orders .

According to Digital Commerce 360 , 62.5% of merchants use their homepages to encourage shoppers to use various omnichannel options, including buy online and pick up in-store, curbside pickup and same-day delivery.

The report said that retailers are not afraid to use a lot of homepage space to communicate this. It is important for consumers to know when the goods will be delivered. The omnichannel options provided by retailers are valued by many consumers . According to a previous December survey, among 974 online buyers , 22% of consumers would check the availability of store products, 21% of consumers research store information online , and online pickup orders, same-day delivery, curbside pickup , etc. accounted for a large proportion.

As we all know, in the second half of this year, when the peak season is approaching, many shipping companies are overwhelmed by the surge in e-commerce orders caused by the epidemic . Walmart ’s deadline is December 20 , one day later than last year’s deadline, but still earlier than 2019. In order to ensure the timely delivery of goods, many retailers such as Amazon and Walmart have rented ships and aircraft to ensure the sufficiency and delivery of goods in all aspects. At a time when the supply chain is tight, retailers have made great efforts to seize traffic.

Despite these companies' efforts to encourage early shopping, and consumers indeed shopping early, the National Retail Federation (NRF) predicts that consumers will still do a lot of shopping between now and Christmas , and the end of the year may bring surprises to some sellers.
