" El Buen Fin " is a local shopping festival in Mexico similar to "Black Friday". Since the first session in 2011, the huge discounts have been warmly welcomed by the local people.
According to the latest statistics from the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO) , online purchases for " El Buen Fin " in 2021 increased by 45% compared to 2020. During the event from November 10 to 16, e-commerce purchase channels brought in 31.731 billion pesos, equivalent to approximately US$1.51 billion.
Fashion and electronics performed particularly well. Sales of fashion reached a record high, accounting for 50%, followed by electronics, accounting for 35%, beauty and personal care accounting for 24%, mobile phones and home appliances accounting for 23% and 22% respectively.
In the above categories, online prices dropped by an average of 13.7% from one week before the event to the end of the event, with the largest price reductions in fashion and children's products.
Compared with 2019, this year's consumer participation in the peak shopping season increased by 9%. 48% of consumers said it was because of the large discounts offered by promotions; 32% of consumers said they chose to shop online during the peak season to avoid crowds in stores.
The epidemic has eased this year, and Mexican consumers have more opportunities to buy in physical stores, but 70% of consumers choose a combination of physical stores and online shopping. 86% of online shoppers said that the shopping experience was satisfactory, and 87% of Internet users felt they felt safer during the purchase process.
Many consumers have said that they will use online channels more often for shopping during the next shopping festival.
According to digital transformation expert David Bernardo , in the post-epidemic era, online shopping will still be popular in Mexico. From February to May 2020 alone , Mexico added 1 million online shoppers. They mainly buy clothes, shoes, auto parts, mobile phone accessories, fitness equipment, etc. eBay, Mercado Libre and Amazon are the main e-commerce platforms in Mexico.
However , Bernardo said that many local online stores currently fail to provide customers with the best shopping experience and services, so this also brings opportunities for overseas merchants. Providing considerate services to consumers will help improve store reviews. Store reviews are one of the key reasons why Mexican consumers choose to consume. At the same time, improving the efficiency of logistics and distribution will also help create a good store image.
AMVO predicts that e-commerce deliveries in Mexico will increase by 42% during the Christmas season , so local sellers and companies can seize the last opportunity this year to get a satisfactory sales report!
