Recently, Google, Temasek and Bain & Company jointly released the latest " Southeast Asia Digital Economy Report 2021" , which indicates that behind the continuous expansion of the number of Internet users and the scale of the digital economy, Southeast Asia's blue ocean is entering the next decade of the digital economy:

A surge in Internet users: In 2021, the number of Internet users in Southeast Asia surged by 40 million, with the total number exceeding 440 million, and 75% of the population going online, laying a huge population foundation for the development of the digital economy.

Comprehensive penetration of digital consumption : In 2021, the digital consumer population will be covered at an accelerated pace, and user stickiness will increase simultaneously.

Wider coverage: Southeast Asia’s digital consumer group has exceeded 350 million people, accounting for 59% of the total population of Southeast Asia; and among the 60 million new digital consumers added since the outbreak, users in non-central regions account for as much as 60%

Stronger stickiness : Taking groceries as an example, more than 60% of users have increased their purchase frequency and spending compared to before the epidemic; the rising online shopping satisfaction continues to improve user stickiness, and 90% of new users are willing to continue using digital consumption

E-commerce leads digital development : The overall situation of e-commerce in Southeast Asia is positive, and the six major markets are thriving.

Expected scale is raised again : In 2021, the total scale of Southeast Asian e-commerce is expected to reach US$120 billion; in 2025, its scale is expected to reach US$234 billion, which is another 36% increase from the 2020 forecast of US$172 billion.

All single markets are improving : In the e-commerce sector, the six major markets in Southeast Asia all achieved double-digit growth in scale; the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia took the top three, and the Philippines showed great potential with a growth rate of 132%.
