Another trouble! Amazon employees in more than 20 countries plan to strike on Black Friday

Black Friday is the time when consumers are shopping the most, sellers are placing the most orders, and logistics are the most tense. It can be said that if there is a slight mistake, Black Friday shopping activities will be affected, and the interests of many parties will also be damaged. This is a particular test of the response capabilities of e-commerce platforms. As the party with opposing interests to the e-commerce platform , the platform employees will seize the opportunity to strive for more benefits for themselves.

According to foreign media reports, Amazon employees around the world are preparing to strike on Black Friday (November 26) to improve working conditions and hold executives accountable . Workers and activists in more than two dozen countries are expected to participate in the protests.

The event is part of the Make Amazon Pay campaign. According to the Make Amazon Pay website, Amazon employees around the world will participate in the Black Friday strike, from refineries, factories, warehouses, data centers to corporate offices .

They said that during the pandemic, Amazon became a trillion-dollar company and Bezos became the first person in history to accumulate a personal fortune of $200 billion. Like all large companies, Amazon's success would not be possible without the efforts of all parties. However, Amazon employees worked hard and even risked their lives, but did not receive corresponding compensation.

At the same time, they have more and more objections to Amazon's working conditions , including long working hours , complicated performance evaluation system , etc. in addition to low wages. Make Amazon Pay 's demands include increased wages, better job security , and " a suspension of Amazon's harsh work efficiency and monitoring system used to exploit workers ."

As part of the Make Amazon Pay effort, the campaign also accused Amazon of tax evasion. A ProPublica report in June revealed that Bezos paid no income taxes between 2006 and 2018.

It is understood that Make Amazon Pay was established in 2020 and consists of 70 organizations, including Greenpeace, Oxfam, Amazon Workers International, etc., and has since helped promote a series of strikes and protests against company policies. During last year's Black Friday, Make Amazon Pay launched a round of strikes.
