Sulawesi region logistics operations to adopt digital technology

Recently, according to foreign media reports, logistics operations in Indonesia's Sulawesi region may adopt digital technology.

It is understood that Indonesia's logistics and transportation costs remain a challenge for many businesses, including parcel logistics and e-commerce businesses. Especially for Eastern Indonesia, including Sulawesi, the logistics cost challenges faced by the region are more severe than other parts of the country.

Currently, the main logistics problems faced by the Sulawesi region of Indonesia are: expensive logistics transportation costs and time, relatively long delivery time to the destination, and lack of applicable technology to support the logistics industry.

Subsequently, Ritase stated that it will cooperate with the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation to apply digital technology to the supply chain in eastern Indonesia (especially Sulawesi) and increase the socialization of digital technology applications.

On October 16, 2021, a gathering of transporters and drivers with the theme of “ Socializing cargo transportation services using information technology-based applications was held in Makassar, Indonesia. At the gathering, Iman Kusnadi, CEO and founder of Ritase, said: “ We want to tell the logistics business people here to recognize and adopt technology immediately. We are worried that in the next two to five years, if we don’t adapt, the business will not grow and lose to competitors who use it first .

In addition, the regulatory body of the partnership, the South Sulawesi Transport Services Agency, will be responsible for formulating relevant policies and regulations, one of which is to implement digital technologies that logistics companies in the Sulawesi region can adopt. "We are working with Ritase as an IT-based partner so that the public can quickly understand this new business model to ensure that Sulawesi's logistics business is not greatly surpassed by Java or Sumatra," said Muhammad Arafah, South Sulawesi Provincial Transportation Director.

Ritase stressed that it will come with a mobile and desktop application-based logistics service platform solution that connects shippers and transporters through a delivery process that can be directly monitored and uses a detailed reporting system , thus addressing the logistics challenges faced by business people in the South Sulawesi region.
