Amazon has a new policy and will launch new product types and attributes

Yesterday, Amazon US released a new announcement, stating that it will launch new product types and attributes.

 

Amazon said it will introduce new product types and attributes to help sellers improve product detail pages.

 

Sellers can categorize products in the Add a Product tool when creating a new listing, view newly launched product types through Seller Central, and select the appropriate template features to download when using Add a Product via Upload.

 

In addition, Amazon emphasizes that changes to new product types and attributes will not affect sellers' existing product selections. However, sellers can use the Manage Inventory function to provide detailed information on product additional attributes, or use the Enhance your listings function to bulk update seller listings.

 

However, the seller AmazonCustomer believes that the view in Amazon's announcement that "these changes will not affect sellers' existing product selection" is not credible. He believes that if the seller's products are within their designated categories, Amazon robots will automatically fill in the attributes of certain listings, but at the same time they will be confused with the existing listing attributes.

 

AmazonCustomer gave an example. Currently, Amazon sellers selling paper towels have a "2-Pack" option in the product detail page. Click "2-Pack" to see two color_sizes, red and blue. However, Amazon robots may make mistakes when automatically filling in the "count" attribute, and will add a new option - "Count of 2". When buyers enter the product detail page, they will see options like: 2 blue, 2 red, which is confusing for buyers.

 

AmazonCustomer pointed out that this situation has happened many times, but Amazon's processing staff said they could do nothing about it. Most of the time, Amazon's solution is to delete the shopping option and then temporarily close the product listing. This has greatly affected the seller's sales.

 

Seller gotSoap pointed out that if the seller does change the product type of an existing listing, the Amazon system may delete and re-add the seller's product under the new type, which will clear all reviews of the seller's product and reset the seller's product ranking.
