Amazon Egypt is now online!

Amazon acquired Souq.com in 2017 and has been conducting business through the platform since then. Now the successful name change marks the official launch of the Egyptian site.

Existing Souq.com sellers will not be affected, whether it is customer credentials, wish lists, orders , or shipping addresses, payment methods , etc., all sellers' businesses can be seamlessly connected to the new Amazon.eg account. At the same time, they must also comply with Amazon's strict policies, and the percentage of defects in the products sold must not exceed 1%, otherwise the seller's account will be cancelled.

Buyers can shop on Amazon.eg by selecting "Egypt" in the Amazon mobile app . The web version is also available in Arabic and English, and all orders are protected by Amazon's A-to-Z policy.

Amazon's services are also in line with local consumption habits. Not only can you choose to pay on delivery, but it will also provide free delivery services for buyers who spend more than 350 Egyptian pounds, and provide same-day and next-day delivery options in some cities in Egypt.

Omar Elsahy, Amazon Egypt manager , said: “Today is a proud day for Souq.com and Amazon. The merger of the two companies is what we have been working towards. Souq.com’s local expertise combined with Amazon’s global presence will be extremely valuable to sellers and buyers across Egypt.”

On August 31, Amazon's local logistics center was officially completed, becoming the largest logistics center in Africa. Located in the 10th district of Ramadan City, Shaqiya Province, there are 15 corresponding distribution stations, aiming to provide more efficient shopping and delivery services to meet the needs of Egyptian online shopping customers.

To help local sellers increase sales, Amazon also offers a range of tools, such as creating events to increase product exposure and running promotions in the form of coupons at any time of the year.

When talking about Egypt, it is not only the pyramids that are worth talking about, but also e-commerce. Egypt’s population has exceeded 100 million, of which about 48 million are Internet users. The e-commerce market size in 2020 has reached about 2.5 billion US dollars, which means there is great market potential.

Ever since Amazon announced that it would launch the Egypt site, many sellers have been looking forward to it. Although the layout of a new market requires a lot of energy in the early stages, if the market prospects are good, you can still give it a try. Interested sellers should also do a good market research.
