Target to add more than 100 Disney stores for upcoming holiday shopping season

Target said Monday it will roughly triple the number of Disney stores in its stores as it gears up to boost traffic as the holidays approach .

It is reported that Target has about 1,900 stores in the United States and began to open Disney stores in some stores in 2019. With the development , it is expected that by the end of this year, there will be more than 160 stores selling Disney -themed products.

Target's expansion of its Disney stores ahead of the holiday season, a prime time for toy sales , is a smart move . In Target's mini Disney stores and on its website, shoppers can find Disney products from the Star Wars and Raya and the Last Dragon series .

In addition to Disney , Target said it will continue to cooperate with FAO Schwarz , a well-known toy retailer with a 159-year history , to launch 70 exclusive toy collections , including Barbie dolls and Paw Patrol peripheral items.

The toy market is very attractive in the United States

Macy's also recently announced that it would expand its toy offerings by reaching an agreement with Toys R Us to open toy stores in more than 400 Macy 's stores and on its website , selling Toys R Us merchandise .

Toys R Us ( or Toys Я Us) is the world's largest retailer of toys and baby products. By integrating various brands, it provides consumers with a full range of one-stop shopping experiences.

Retail Strategist Steve   Dennis said the closure of Toys R Us has left many retailers looking to grab a share of the toy market . This has led to more competition among retailers such as Walmart , Amazon and Target, and made toys an attractive and competitive category for Macy's .

Target development director Christina Hennington also said toys have been a growth category for Target and continued to show growth momentum in the second quarter ending July 31. She said in the earnings call that toy sales increased 20% year-on-year in the three months.

Disney has always been loved by the general public, not only children, but also many adults, and it enjoys the reputation of "the whole world is urging you to grow up, only Disney is protecting your childishness." Target's move to increase the number of Disney stores will inevitably improve its competitiveness in the toy market.
