North American e-commerce platform ShopperPlus raised 100 million yuan in financing, and its founder once worked for Alibaba

According to China National Radio, Canadian cross-border e-commerce company ShopperPlus officially announced a financing of 100 million RMB (about 20 million CAD). The lead investor in this round is Celtic Asia Ventures, and the following investors include the Canadian Business Development Fund, the National Bank of Canada, Wish co-founder Danny Zhang, and former Sequoia China Managing Director Pan Min.

ShopperPlus was founded in 2015. Its headquarters and main warehouse are located in Montreal, with a distribution center in Vancouver and a branch in Guangzhou, China. Its business scope includes office supplies, electronic accessories, household goods and other categories. In addition to direct sales to consumers, its customers also include governments, educational institutions and dealers. It owns 3 websites, including www.123ink.ca, www.primecables.ca and www.living.ca.

Among them, 123Ink mainly deals in office supplies and consumables, and is also the largest source of printer cartridges and laser printer toner cartridges in Canada; Primecables is a wholesaler and retailer that provides customized cables and accessories for home theaters, networks and more professional studios; living is aimed at families and deals in household and living supplies.

It is understood that since its establishment, ShopperPlus has had more than millions of registered users on its platform. In 2020, the website's annual PV exceeded tens of millions. In vertical fields such as office supplies and small household items, ShopperPlus has taken a leading position in the Canadian market and will enter the US market in the future.

It is worth mentioning that ShopperPlus founder and CEO Zhan Xiaobo, as a Chinese, once worked for Alibaba and participated in the establishment of Alibaba's B2B website. In 2003, he resigned and went to Canada to study computer science. As the operating costs of e-commerce platforms such as Amazon became increasingly high, Zhan Xiaobo hoped to establish a local Canadian e-commerce platform to reduce the cost of opening a store for sellers.

Regarding this round of financing, Zhan Xiaobo said: "ShopperPlus's vision is to create a North American version of NetEase Yanxuan + JD Logistics. I am very grateful for the support of Celtic Asia. In addition to capital, Celtic Asia also provides ShopperPlus with support for the integration of industrial chain and ecosystem resources. This round of financing will be mainly used to expand the platform to more vertical categories and improve the coverage of its own logistics warehouses in the future."
