As the No. 1 global e-commerce company , Amazon is enjoying the crazy dividends brought by the epidemic on the one hand, while also suffering from the pain brought by the surge in various bad behaviors on the other hand. Therefore, Amazon is constantly increasing its efforts to crack down on bad behaviors!
Yesterday, Amazon released an announcement on combating counterfeit goods and disclosed its latest Brand Protection Report. In the Brand Protection Report, Amazon also outlined its efforts and measures to combat counterfeiting in order to protect its brands and millions of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Amazon strikes hard against counterfeit goods
Faced with the endless stream of counterfeits, Amazon has also launched a strong attack and used three tricks.
Robust and proactive control. Amazon will use advanced machine learning technology and professional manual review to proactively prevent and protect against counterfeiters. Last year, Amazon blocked more than 6 million seller account registrations with abnormal behavior, preventing a large number of counterfeit products from being put on the shelves at the source .
Powerful tools for brands. Amazon provides tools including Brand Registry, Transparency, and Project Zero to help brands block counterfeit goods. Last year, Amazon increased the number of brands using brand protection tools, and the Amazon Transparency Program alone protected more than 500 million products.
This also means that Amazon will hold counterfeiters accountable through criminal prosecution and litigation, which is a harsh move. Last year, Amazon began reporting all confirmed counterfeiters to law enforcement agencies in Canada, China, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States, striving to permanently stop counterfeiters.
"Injured one's own people by mistake" was criticized
Although Amazon's three strategies can indeed deal a powerful blow to counterfeits and actively protect the interests of brand sellers, incidents of "accidentally harming one's own people" occur frequently.
One seller said that in general Amazon did the right thing because his brand had many counterfeiters. But Amazon "accidentally hurt" him. Amazon prohibited the use of his own brand name in his listing , even though the seller had his own registered trademark and brand name .
Many sellers have reported the same issue, and despite submitting letters and actual contracts/license agreements authorizing the use of the brand , the issue has not been resolved .
Ultimately, although Amazon uses advanced algorithms and machines, due to technical and data limitations, it is inevitable that there will be some misjudgments and false positives. Although Amazon itself admits it, it is still criticized by many sellers due to the frequent disappearance of legitimate sellers' listings.
Faced with the endless stream of counterfeit goods, Amazon still has a long way to go. But at the same time, sellers must also strengthen their awareness. Sellers who sell counterfeit goods will fall sooner or later. Amazon announcement Fakes |
