Amazon is selling clothing that insults Chinese people again

If there is one news topic that has been trending on major social media platforms in the past two days, it must be "Pelosi's visit to Taiwan."

Since Pelosi announced that Taiwan would be included in her Asia trip, Sino-US relations and the situation in the Taiwan Strait have instantly become topics of keen concern among netizens. For cross-border sellers, they are even more worried about the direction of things.

Some sellers have stated that they will postpone the already confirmed Amazon US FBA replenishment plan , and some sellers are worried that if the situation develops further, the United States will freeze their accounts, seize their shipments, and confiscate their funds .

At this sensitive time, some netizens revealed that Amazon’s own store has put clothing that insults China on the shelves.

According to the Amazon link provided by netizens, by clicking on it, you can see a variety of T-shirts with words such as "TAIWAN IS NOT CHINA" and "TAIWAN IS A COUNTRY" printed on them. Some even have the emblem of a certain party printed on the clothing as a "national flag."

What is even more despicable is that the product descriptions of these insulting China clothing blatantly state "Support the people of Taiwan with great design and let the world know that Taiwan is an independent country", "Artwork with the Taiwanese flag and slogans", "Clothing suitable for supporting human rights advocacy and protest activities", etc.

According to the search results, these clothes were put on the shelves as early as 2020, with a price range of US$16.99-23.99, and the sellers were all shown as Amazon.com, which means that these products originated from Amazon's own stores. The search page also shows that there is almost no transaction information for these products , but it is impossible to verify whether they are hidden .

However, when I searched for the keyword on Amazon, not all of these products were displayed, only one or two items of clothing used the emblem of a certain Taiwanese political party as a design element. It is not known whether the remaining products that openly printed insulting remarks about China were hidden links by Amazon. Some netizens also speculated that the store might be a VC account ( Vendor Central, a platform launched by Amazon for suppliers ) .

This is not the first time Amazon has been caught selling products that harm China’s sovereignty.

At the beginning of last year, when Amazon announced a ban on Xinjiang cotton products, some netizens revealed that the platform was openly selling clothing printed with insulting Chinese words such as "I COME FROM TAIWAN NOT CHINA".

Earlier, in 2019, Amazon announced its withdrawal from the Chinese market. However, on the eve of its withdrawal, when the "black violence" was rampant, Amazon actually put a large number of clothing products that insulted China on its shelves .

Many clothing products with words such as " FREE HONG KONG DEMOCRACY NOW " and " NO CHINA EXTRADITION " printed on them can be searched on Amazon , and descriptions such as "Hong Kong independence" appear in the product information . Similarly, the page shows that the products are " sold and shipped directly by Amazon.com . "

In response, Amazon said at the time that it has always recognized and respected the "one country, two systems" principle, which has long been widely recognized by the international community . It continues to comply with local laws and regulations in every country and region where it operates.

The examples of prohibited products published on the Amazon website also stipulate that the following are not allowed : ( 1 ) products that promote, incite, or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual, or religious hostility ; ( 2 ) products that promote organizations that hold such views ; and ( 3 ) products that graphically depict violence or victims of violence.

As of press time, the product link can still be opened, but the anti-China product is no longer there and is displayed as other Taiwanese products on Amazon.
