GBC Law Firm's revenue is catching up with Anker, and its annual income from infringement lawsuits is US$1 billion

I don’t know when it started, but China ’s cross-border e-commerce sellers began to be frightened by various infringement complaints.

 

Many sellers of popular products are afraid of waking up to see an official email from Amazon in their mailbox: "The balance of funds is frozen due to complaints of infringement." Even worse, the store is directly closed due to complaints of infringement.

 

When it comes to infringement lawsuits that sellers have encountered, it can be said that the seven "gourd brothers" GBC, KEITH, EPS, SMG, AMS, HSP, and DAVID are basically indispensable. As "rogue law firms", they use trademarks and patents to file infringement complaints, freeze sellers' financial accounts, and demand high compensation.

GBC was once again recognized as the most active trademark litigation firm in this year's World Trademark Review's evaluation of U.S. trademark litigation activity . In 2020 alone , GBC filed 243 cases, averaging 1.5 days per case, more than 2.5 times the next-largest trademark litigation firm (excluding dozens of design patent cases).

 

In these lawsuits, GBC has filed lawsuits against more than 22,000 market targets and 5,900 websites. In addition to trademarks, patents and copyrights have also been frequently patronized by GBC.

 

According to rumors in the U.S. industry , GBC 's revenue in 2020 from various infringement lawsuits alone will be nearly 1 billion U.S. dollars , almost catching up with Anker 's revenue .

 

Anker worked very hard on R&D, but its annual revenue was only 9.353 billion RMB (about 1.44 billion USD), while GBC, because it "stood on the shoulders of giants", easily exceeded 6 billion RMB in annual revenue from infringement lawsuits alone. It is conceivable how many sellers were bitten off by GBC in the past year alone!

 


The most active Chinese sellers in the cross-border e-commerce market are the focus of GBC!

 

Many sellers may have heard of their peers being "phished" and maliciously sued by GBC. Due to the lack of awareness of independent intellectual property rights and self-legal protection , and the fact that most of the courts accepting the cases are abroad, many Chinese sellers can only bite the bullet and swallow their anger after being sued, choosing to pay huge compensation to keep the matter quiet.

 

The platforms of these defendants are mainly distributed in C-end platforms and small Bs such as Amazon, eBay, wish, AliExpress, DHgate, independent stations, and Alibaba International Station.

 

Precisely because they are vulnerable to bullying, Chinese sellers must be more careful about their own infringement risks. They must pay more attention to products, listings, keywords, etc. to avoid giving GBC and other criminals any opportunity to take advantage.
