During Ramadan, the number of Tokopedia sellers increased 8 times

Tokopedia, the most popular e-commerce platform in Indonesia, recorded an increase in online shopping transactions and donation trends during Ramadan 2021. In addition, live shopping trends through the Tokopedia Play video streaming channel also saw a significant increase.

 

During Ramadan 2021 , the number of viewers for the Tokopedia Play video streaming channel increased sixfold. Overall, total views for Tokopedia Play increased more than sevenfold during Ramadan, explained Ekhel Chandra Wijaya , senior director of external communications at Tokopedia.

 

Due to these factors, the number of retailers on Tokopedia has increased more than eight times compared to last month,” said Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, an analyst at the company .

 

He added that beauty , food and beverages , mobile phones and tablets, and books were among the most popular categories on Tokopedia Play, with strong sales during Ngabuburit Serba . According to Ekhel, the growth in various figures was driven by a range of offers and discounts offered by Tokopedia .

Among them, at the Ngabuburit Serba event , consumers can buy fashion , beauty , household goods, sports equipment , cars , gold , etc., and the prices of these products are affordable for consumers and very convenient .

 

More importantly, sellers can make videos independently by utilizing the real-life and video features in Tokopedia Play. Users can also enjoy the ease and simplicity of browsing products while watching videos , as the food of these products can be directly displayed in Tokopedia Play , which is of great help to sellers’ sales .

 

According to Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, Tokopedia Play’s picture-in-picture (PIP) feature has also increased the number of viewers. Through this feature, people can watch creative video content on Tokopedia Play while shopping.

 

Ekhel Chandra Wijaya concluded: “Tokopedia Play is part of Tokopedia’s efforts to innovate in the current context of society , where people can shop while finding inspiration , and more importantly, find inspiration while shopping, to meet all the needs of daily life.
