Indonesian e-commerce company Jet Commerce continues to grow with 750,000 transactions in three months

Surveys show that in Indonesia, many consumers choose to shop online, mainly because it avoids physical contact.


Data from Indonesian e-commerce company Jet Commerce shows the changes in the country's consumer shopping behavior .


The e-commerce enabler company noted that both sales value and number of e-commerce transactions grew in the fourth quarter of 2020.


In the fourth quarter of 2020, Jet Commerce recorded a 36% increase in its overall sales value compared to the previous quarter. This is directly proportional to the number of transactions, which increased by 53% in the third quarter. In the past three months, Jet Commerce has conducted more than 750,000 transactions across various markets.


Data shows that on Jet Commerce , the health and beauty product category has seen the largest increase in the number of transactions, up more than 80%. Its sales value has increased by more than 60% compared to the previous quarter. Among the best-selling products in the past three months are facial cleansers from YOU and Lancome, as well as facial cleansers from Senka.


The electronics category also saw significant growth, with the number of transactions increasing by 31% in Q4. The sales value of electronics products increased by 35% from the previous quarter , with the OPPO A52 and Realme Narzo 20 becoming the most purchased electronics products in the past three months.


Sales of products for mothers and children also grew rapidly, up 31%, with MamyPoko products and Pediasure milk being the best-selling products in the category.


Products for children's toys and pet food also increased the number of transactions. Each of the two products increased by more than 50% compared with the previous quarter.


Webber Chen, CEO of Jet Commerce Indonesia, said that the increase in e-commerce users today also encourages merchants to grow their businesses through e-commerce , whether they are entrepreneurs from the MSME sector or big brands . This model proves that e-commerce plays an important role in the recovery of the Indonesian economy.


Statista noted in its Digital Market Outlook report that the pandemic situation did not improve at the beginning of this year, but this encouraged an increase in e-commerce penetration in 2021.


The report pointed out that by 2020, the total number of e-commerce users in Indonesia will reach 138 million, and by 2021, the number of users will grow to 159 million.


Meanwhile, revenue for the industry is expected to grow 26% to $38 million from $30 million in 2020.
