Annual revenue is nearly 3 billion US dollars! Russia's AliExpress may go public

China's Alibaba and Russian partners established a joint venture, AliExpress Russia, in October 2019 to operate domestic and cross-border sales.


The editor learned from the Russian Satellite News Agency that AliExpress Russia recently released its annual financial report for the fiscal year from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.


The report shows that from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, excluding services, the turnover of AliExpress in Russia reached 229.3 billion rubles (about 2.978 billion US dollars) , and the transaction volume of local goods exceeded 54.9 billion rubles, a year-on-year increase of 151%.


It is understood that there are currently more than 220,000 foreign sellers and about 45,000 local sellers on AliExpress in Russia , and local sales account for about 24% of the total turnover.


According to company data, the number of active buyers on the platform exceeded 26.2 million in the year ending March 31 , and the number of active visits reached 72.5 million, a 30% increase from last year . There are now 29.1 million monthly active users and 8.8 million daily active users on its online marketplace .


Previously, AliExpress Russia also announced in its press office that the number of orders placed by Russian buyers exceeded 90 million between December 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021 .


Financial report data shows that the number of SPUs (standardized product units) delivered from China and other countries displayed on the platform exceeded 139.2 million, and the number of SPUs for Russian sellers was 7 million.


The company noted: “In the program for April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, the company will continue to expand the variety of local sellers and their transaction volume, improve logistics capabilities and fundamentally improve customer experience, launching newer products developed in Russia (web version and mobile application) .


In an interview with Reuters in July last year , Dmitry Sergeev, CEO of AliExpress Russia, said that the company's goal is to reach $10 billion in annual turnover in 2022-2023 and to increase the share of Russian sellers on the platform to 50% . In addition, he added that the company's goal is to attract 50 million customers per year.


In addition, the financial report also mentioned that AliExpress Russia is considering a possible IPO . In response, AliExpress Russia said: " There is no specific plan for the IPO at present , it may be next year or later.
