Many Amazon sellers have had their accounts suspended, including sellers with annual sales exceeding 700 million. The suspension affected a wide range of accounts. The problem was with postcards. Sellers were unable to complete address verification because they could not receive postcards sent by the platform, leading to an account "crisis." The suspension of accounts in recent days has had a significant impact on many people.

Recently, a large number of sellers reported that their accounts were shut down by Amazon, and the platform failed to send postcards on the agreed date, resulting in a large number of delivery delays. Some were even lost during delivery, and address verification could not be carried out as scheduled. Sellers complained: "Faced with this situation, we are helpless and powerless. The platform's own mistakes have made us bear the consequences . "

 

Seller Sandy said his account was deactivated because he could not verify the new address, but Amazon did not provide him with a verification code . They recently updated the warehouse address, and the estimated delivery date of the postcard is August 22, and the expiration date is August 23. During this period, he called twice , once two days before the deadline and once on the deadline , reporting that he had not received the postcard and requesting an extension. There are two pending cases on Amazon requesting an extension of the expiration date, but the cases have not been resolved.

 

Sandy's account was deactivated on August 23, and he had to lay off his employees for a week, losing thousands of dollars, plus interest on his loan.

 

After contacting Amazon customer service, an agent told Sandy that there had been a glitch on the platform since the beginning of this year , which delayed the delivery of postcards. Sandy was told that the expected date to receive the postcard would be postponed by another 10 days. If she did not receive the postcard for 10 days, she could apply for a new postcard, which would take more than 15 days to arrive.

 

"Is this fair to Amazon's seller partners? This situation has a huge impact on our business. The platform has caused us to lose thousands of dollars in order to verify our addresses, and we had to stop operations while waiting for the postcards to arrive." Sandy questioned the platform's practices.

 

Many sellers were unable to sell and had no income during the suspension period, which made them very anxious. However, according to the reply from Amazon customer service, it was a malfunction of the platform, so why couldn’t the seller’s account be restored?

 

Like Sandy, many seller accounts were deactivated because of Amazon's delayed delivery of postcards.

 

"- I still haven't received my postcard, they said it was 10 days later than expected, and if it still hasn't arrived, I need to request a new one, which means I have to wait 20-25 days for my account to be reinstated , and they didn't even provide basic notification, crazy;

- My account was deactivated yesterday, the postcard only shows as sent, the expected date was a few days ago. I was told the same thing, please let us know if you find a way to restore it;

- I have the same situation, Amazon customer service is useless, my account has been deactivated for 6 days, can't we all talk to a supervisor or someone who can temporarily reactivate the account? Because the problem is not with us ;

——It has been deactivated for 4 days and the status still shows "delivered". I am considering applying for a new one;

—Did anyone get their postcard yet? Looks like we all have similar expectations for delivery.”

 

Everyone’s situation is basically the same. They were first informed of the 10-day extension and received a postcard, and then the extension has continued . Sellers have questioned: “Why was our account deactivated? Because Amazon violated their own notification law from the first step and did not provide the verification code on time.”

 

“They claim we violated the Notification Act, when in fact they were the ones who never sent the postcard in the first place!” said one colleague.

 

Seller with annual sales of 700 million yuan was scammed

 

The impact of the account suspension due to postcard delays was very wide, not only limited to small and medium-sized sellers, but also relatively large sellers were not spared.

 

A seller with annual sales of $100 million (equivalent to more than 700 million RMB) said that Amazon failed to send the postcard, the address verification failed, and my account was suspended. We opened countless cases and requested assistance from superiors and subordinates, but none of them were resolved. This is a systemic problem that needs to be corrected immediately. We have no problem with verification, but if the team does not send the postcard, we cannot verify.

 

The Amazon team told us that our account would not be deactivated because the account was marked as not delivered due to postcards. The team had tracking numbers and could see that they were not delivered, but that was not the case.

 

The seller said Amazon informed him that the third postcard had been sent. The status of his three postcards are as follows: The first one was never sent. There is a status tracker on the verification page, which can be viewed in four states: in preparation, sent, in transit, and delivered. The first one has been in the preparation stage ; the second one has been sent with tracking information showing that it was lost in transit . The status page shows that if you do not receive it within 7 days, please request a new one . The third postcard is in the preparation stage.

 

Postcards sent by Amazon were lost, sellers were unable to complete verification, and accounts with annual sales of 700 million were suspended. A colleague lamented: "This is crazy! The number of sales in a year does not seem to matter to the platform."

 

In response to the problems encountered by many sellers, some people received a response from the Amazon team: The postcard is being processed and sent to you, and the account has been affected. We have taken action to ensure that our team is notified and aware of your situation. So far, we have no updates, but we do ask that you continue to monitor your account.

 

This is not the first time that verification cannot be completed due to failure to receive a postcard.

 

Four months ago, a group of sellers also encountered postcard issues and their accounts were deactivated. One of the sellers reported that Amazon required confirmation of our business address. I tried every method to verify the address, and now I can't request a new postcard for verification. There is no such option on the dashboard.

 

Amazon responded at the time that there seemed to be some problems with address verification and the postcards sent out. Normally, if the seller needs to send a new postcard, they can try several times.

 

‌Amazon Postcard Verification‌ is a method of verifying the authenticity of a seller’s address as part of Amazon’s consumer notification program.

 

After the seller confirms that they have received the address verification message, they need to add a new address in the seller center. This address must be found by Amazon. Amazon will mail a postcard to the address filled in, and the seller needs to wait for the postcard to arrive. After receiving the postcard, the seller needs to find the verification code on the postcard and find the corresponding verification port in the seller backend to enter the verification code to complete the entire verification process.

 

Nowadays, many sellers are stuck in receiving postcards. From the beginning of the year to now, batches of seller accounts have been deactivated due to problems with the delivery of postcards, causing losses to many people. It is really not right for such problems to occur on Amazon!
