The financial report shows that Ozon's total turnover in 2020 reached 197.4 billion rubles (about 17 billion yuan) , an increase of 144% from 80.8 billion rubles in 2019. Among them, Ozon's e-commerce business has achieved a qualitative leap in growth. In 2020, the turnover of Ozon's e-commerce business accounted for 47.8% of the company's total turnover, reaching 94.36 billion rubles (about 8.12 billion yuan).
According to Ozon's prospectus for listing in the United States last November, Ozon lost 5.874 billion and 18.612 billion rubles in 2018 and 2019, respectively. After years of losses, Ozon's e-commerce business turned the tide last year, with particularly outstanding performance in the fourth quarter.
In 2020 , Ozon's order volume increased by 132% year-on-year to 73.9 million. In the fourth quarter of last year, Ozon's e-commerce business received 29.6 million orders, a 137% increase from the same period in 2019. At the same time, the order volume in the fourth quarter accounted for about 40% of the total annual order volume , and it took 40% of the annual order volume in just one quarter, which can be said to be very strong.
The fourth quarter's turnover performance was also very good. The financial report shows that Ozon's e-commerce business turnover in the fourth quarter of last year accounted for 52.3% of the total turnover in the quarter, almost twice that of the same period in 2019. The turnover of other businesses was 75.9 billion rubles, a year-on-year increase of 147%.
Ozon CEO Alexander Shulgin also said: "The fourth quarter of 2020 was a period of record growth for Ozon," mainly due to Ozon's business expansion into various regions of Russia, which stimulated sales growth, the improvement of financial technology services, and the Double 11, Black Friday, Christmas and New Year promotions in the context of the epidemic.
Judging from Ozon's 2020 financial report, the company is generally developing in a positive direction. After listing in the United States, Ozon seems to have regained new vitality, but this does not mean that it can be taken lightly.
According to data released by Wildberries , Russia's largest e-commerce platform, the platform's turnover in 2020 reached 437.2 billion rubles, a year-on-year increase of 96%. Wildberries also crushed Ozon in terms of order volume. Data showed that the number of orders for Wildberries in 2020 reached 323.8 million, a 2-fold increase from 2019.
Wildberries is still in the "dominant" position, and Ozon needs to make more efforts to catch up. Russia Ozon |
