According to a survey, the new coronavirus has led to the daily occurrence of asymmetric surfaces and non-contact life in South Korea , and has also changed the trend of applying for design applications.
According to data released by the Korean Intellectual Property Office on the 22nd, the number of applications for designs of household goods , entertainment and sports products increased last year, while the number of applications for basic products such as beauty , daily necessities and textiles decreased.
Between 2017 and 2019, there were an average of 6,840 household goods design applications filed each year , but last year there were 9,199 , an increase of 34.5% over the three-year average. It is understood that hobbies , entertainment and sporting goods also increased from 2,907 to 3.42 in the same period , an increase of 4.6%.
On the other hand, personal items such as beauty and groceries decreased by 4.1% from 9,306 items to 8,926 items , while basic products such as textiles decreased by 15.7% from 5,772 items to 4,863 items .
In terms of specific varieties, the number of masks, which have become a daily necessity in the epidemic era , surged from 377 to 2,444 during the same period , an increase of 548.3%.
The average number of design applications for on-site epidemic prevention supplies such as quarantine ports and disinfection booths was 39, but this increased to 217 last year, an increase of 456.4% . Designs for indoor hygiene products such as household sterilizers and skin care equipment also increased from 1,355 to 3,857 , an increase of 184.6%.
As the epidemic spread, people spent more time at home and more and more sports products were designed. Indoor sports products, such as dumbbells, increased from 63 to 83, a growth of 31.1%. In particular, golf products increased from 251 to 377, a growth of 50.4%.
In addition, people's demand for home decoration increased, and the designs of furniture such as tables and sofas increased from 2,585 to 2,932, an increase of 13.4%.
On the contrary , due to the impact of the epidemic, people reduced outings , and jewelry and other accessories decreased from 3,277 to 2,578 during the same period , a decrease of 21.3%. Cosmetics decreased from 1,232 to 978, a decrease of 20.6%, and shoe and bag design applications decreased by 7.7% and 6.1% respectively.
