Amazon Europe has already announced that when selling products on Amazon , it is necessary to ensure that the products comply with the EU REACH ( Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals ) regulations . If the content of certain chemical substances in the products exceeds the limit, they are not allowed to be sold on Amazon.
At the same time , Amazon also requires manufacturers of certain products to provide REACH declarations or test reports to prove that the products comply with the REACH regulations on cadmium, nickel and lead content restrictions . This series of regulations is mostly aimed at jewelry on Amazon. Tens of thousands of jewelry products have been removed from Amazon due to non-compliance with REACH regulations or failure to provide REACH test reports .
A jewelry seller on the official forum of Amazon Europe said that Amazon 's strict inspection of REACH certification was a complete "massacre" for them . Half of his inventory is necklaces and pendants, and most of these products have been deleted by Amazon in the past 12 months. The same is true for other jewelry sellers.
Amazon’s fire is also spreading to some non-jewelry sellers. Recently, when browsing Amazon’s official European forum, I found that many sellers said that their product listings were deleted by Amazon. Most of these sellers do not sell jewelry, and the deleted products are not jewelry products.
A seller named "bobsyouruncle" said that yesterday morning he had about 80 items removed by Amazon for violating REACH regulations. These removed items include a range of products such as glass pendants, hip flasks, pens, bookmarks, etc. Many of these removed products are the mainstay of "bobsyouruncle's" business.

Stationery seller "Paper_Things1" said that three of their product listings were removed for violating REACH regulations. The affected products include stationery sets with sticky notes, writing sets, and mini stapler sets . These products belong to the stationery category and have nothing to do with jewelry, but Amazon has removed them from the shelves.
(Photo source: Amazon official forum) Some sellers said that the products they sell are badges, not jewelry, but they have already had more than 100 products that comply with REACH regulations removed by Amazon.
Some sellers believe that most of these products seem to be metal products, and Amazon seems to be strictly checking any products containing metal. If this is true, then more sellers on Amazon will be affected.
Some sellers also believe that this may be due to some reasons Amazon misjudged. Some of the seller's products were previously removed by Amazon due to REACH regulations, but these products were not jewelry products. After the seller appealed, Amazon admitted its mistake and restored the product listing.
Providing REACH test reports is indeed a very necessary thing to protect the rights of consumers. I hope Amazon can be more accurate when strictly checking REACH certification and not hurt innocent sellers. Amazon REACH |
