Live streaming craze sweeps Generation Z! Yubo software usage time in the UK market increased by 57%

While industry professionals and entrepreneurs are turning to the audio social software Clubhouse, Generation Z (1997-2012) has gradually turned to live streaming social software to maintain social activities during the epidemic lockdown, including Yubo.

Yubo is a French live streaming dating app launched in 2015. Its main user group is teenagers aged between 13 and 25. It allows users to create live video broadcasts with 10 friends at the same time.

As of 2020, the average usage time of Yubo has increased by 550%, and the number of users worldwide has reached 40 million, with 5 million in the UK alone. This shows that the UK is an important overseas market for Yubo, and British consumers' acceptance and frequency of use of Yubo are also increasing.

With the closure of schools in the UK in the first quarter of this year, more and more Generation Z chose to go online to make new friends. According to the latest statistics released by Yubo on March 10, its 5 million British users spent 57% more time on live broadcasts in the first two months of 2021, and the number of daily active users increased by 23%.

In addition, the number of daily active users participating in mini-games on the platform has increased by 135%, and Generation Z users like to use Yubo to engage in "two-on-two PK".

Interestingly, Yubo found that UK users aged 21 to 24 spend more time live streaming per month than the average UK user spends on TikTok per month (the average was 19.6 hours in 2020).

In addition, among all age groups, 23-year-old users spend the most time on average, 26.5 hours per month, followed by 22-year-olds, who spend an average of 25.5 hours per month, and then 24-year-olds, who spend an average of 25.3 hours per month. Teenagers aged 19 spend about a full day per month on live streaming, which is 24.3 hours.

Teens aged 14 and 15 spent the least amount of time per month on live streaming, with 14-year-olds spending an average of 11.3 hours per month and 15-year-olds spending 16 hours per month.

Finally, live streaming traffic in the UK market also shows regional differences , with the cities with the most live streaming traffic being London, Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Bristol.
