Really good! The average order amount reached US$61, the 2020 Southeast Asian e-commerce report is released

Recently, iPrice Group, SimilarWeb and AppsFlyer released the 2020 e-commerce year-end report . The report shows that during the epidemic, the e-commerce industry in Southeast Asia has developed rapidly and related data has increased significantly.

Among them, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand are definitely the "top students" in Southeast Asia . The e-commerce market scale of the six countries will continue to expand and is expected to reach US$172 billion by 2025.

At the same time, this report also released three major changes in the Southeast Asian e-commerce market in 2020. Sellers should take a look!

1. Average order value growth

During the epidemic, the traffic of e-commerce websites such as fashion, electronics, and outdoor products has declined, but interestingly, the average order amount of the above categories has shown an upward trend.

iPrice pointed out that in 2020, the average order amount of online consumers in Southeast Asia increased by US$32 , a growth rate of 19% compared with 2019. Among them, the average order amount in Malaysia increased to US$41 in 2020 , and the average order amount in Singapore reached US$61 .

2. Changes in e-commerce platform traffic

The report shows that during the epidemic, the traffic of some e-commerce websites declined. In the six countries, the traffic of cosmetics and fashion websites decreased by an average of 35% and 14% respectively .

But overall, the traffic of Southeast Asian e-commerce platforms is on the rise, with Singapore growing by 35% compared to 2019, becoming the "leader" in Southeast Asia. Secondly, the Philippines grew by 21%, Vietnam grew by 19%, Malaysia grew by 17%, Thailand grew by 15%, and Indonesia grew by 6%.

3. Install and uninstall rates of shopping apps

Data shows that between January and June 2020, organic installations of shopping apps on iOS and Android rose slightly by 2%.

There are three main factors that affect the installation rate: promotional activities, movement control orders , and local festivals . After the implementation of the movement control order, the installation rate of many shopping apps has skyrocketed. In addition, during the Lunar New Year, Ramadan , and Songkran Festival , the promotional activities launched by various platforms also attracted many new users.

It is worth mentioning that the uninstall rates in Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are currently increasing.

In recent years, the e-commerce industry in Southeast Asia has developed at an astonishing speed, but its future potential is still huge. This "treasure pot" is waiting for more sellers to explore.
