eBay UK's certified refurbished centre launches today

eBay UK’s Certified Refurbished hub launched on March 4 , following the launch of the Certified Refurbished hub in the US and Australia in February , with the aim of making it easier for consumers to find high-quality refurbished products from well-loved and trusted household brands such as Dyson, Eve and GoPro.

The Certified Refurbished selection on eBay gives buyers access to premium brands and products that have been meticulously refurbished with guaranteed quality - for up to 30% off. Products sold on the Certified Refurbished hub have been inspected, cleaned, and refurbished to meet the necessary specifications by the manufacturer or a manufacturer-approved supplier.

eBay's Certified Refurbished hub is launching with two priority categories: Electronics and Homewares. Products purchased through Certified Refurbished will come with a 12-month warranty, free delivery and a 30-day return policy, and offer significant savings to consumers. eBay UK found that if every household in the UK purchased one refurbished item, the UK could save £1.56 billion.

In the coming months, eBay hopes to continue to enroll more sellers and brands in Certified Refurbished and expand the available categories for the program.

The eBay UK Certified Refurbished Hub comes as eBay sees growing demand for refurbished products from consumers as they look to shop more consciously. Searches for refurbished items have already increased significantly compared to the previous year, with searches for refurbished printers up 301%, having experienced a massive surge as more people work from home. There was also strong demand for electronics such as refurbished TVs and laptops, up 103% and 75% respectively, while demand for refurbished coffee machines increased 35% as people look to save on their morning coffee.

“The demand for refurbished products has been growing for some time, but we know that a major barrier for some consumers is the potential risks associated with buying refurbished products. Our certified refurbished centres are designed to give customers peace of mind that they are getting the products they love at the high quality they deserve, including new prices,” said Matt Potter, UK senior trade manager for eBay’s electronics business. “eBay is looking forward to working with our sellers and brands on this business, enabling them to develop new revenue streams, maximise returns and build more sustainable supply chains.”
