On the 4th of this month , eBay launched the "Refurbished Product Certification Center" to respond to consumers' shopping trend of "spending less money and getting new products."
According to the latest data from eBay, British consumers have reduced their shopping expenses during the pandemic, saving up to 1.56 billion pounds. However, since 2020, more and more British consumers have increasingly accepted and recognized refurbished products. According to statistics, a refurbished product is sold every 14 seconds on eBay's online trading market.
Since 2020, British consumers have increasingly strictly planned their online shopping financial expenditures. Platform data shows that consumers are more willing to use their limited online shopping expenditures to purchase products related to remote work and online courses.
Data from the eBay platform shows that searches for refurbished laptops increased by 75%, searches for refurbished chairs increased by 48%, and searches for refurbished coffee machines increased by 35%.
At eBay's Refurbished Certification Center, consumers can choose from a range of high-quality refurbished products from well-known brands, including Dyson, a well-known British appliance brand, Go Pro, an American camera brand, and Panasonic, a well-known Japanese appliance brand.
Although these products are refurbished, they are in new, unused condition and have been inspected, cleaned, and refurbished by the product manufacturer or a seller authorized by the manufacturer.
In order to make consumers feel more at ease, the platform and sellers promise that certified refurbished products have a 12-month warranty period, and consumers who purchase refurbished products enjoy the same after-sales service as brand-name full-priced products. At the same time, the platform provides a refund guarantee to protect the rights and interests of consumers. Sellers can not only purchase brand-new products at the lowest price, but also enjoy a pleasant and secure shopping experience.
eBay UK platform said that if every household in the UK bought a refurbished technology product or home appliance, they would save money on buying new products. The average online shopping amount saved would exceed 30% of the original retail price of the goods, and a total of 1.56 billion pounds could be saved in the UK.
Matt Potter, director of eBay's Refurbished Certification Center, said that since last year, the demand for refurbished products has indeed increased significantly, which can save consumers money and help sellers deal with inventory, benefiting both buyers and sellers.
