DHL predicts that the B2B e-commerce market will reach US$20.9 trillion in 2027

According to foreign media reports, DHL, the world's leading international express service provider   Express predicts that the B2B e-commerce market will grow by more than 70% to $20.9 trillion by 2027.

In fact, this is not groundless. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, global sales of B2B e-commerce websites and markets increased by 18.2 % to US$12.2 trillion , and already had a certain market size in the retail industry .

DHL also predicted that by 2025, 80% of B2B sales interactions between suppliers and professional buyers will take place through digital channels , but did not give specific comparative figures .

The research report mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the digitalization process to an unprecedented level , and e -commerce companies have sprung up like mushrooms after rain. Millennials are an important force driving the growth of B2B transactions . Among all B2B decision makers, millennials account for 73% .

The company said DHL Express is fully capable of supporting all B2B companies .   The express delivery service provider invests more than 1 billion euros each year around the world to build transportation networks and improve pick-up, sorting and transportation capabilities. Sorting capacity has increased by 65% since 2013. The department said it plans to hire another 10,000 employees and add 20 new cargo aircraft this year.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, said that millennials have become the main force of online shopping . They are accustomed to using digital platforms for B2C transactions and are an important driving force for the growth of global e-commerce .

In DHL service data in 2020 , the volume of B2C e -commerce increased by about 40% in the past year alone , with a total of 484 million pieces of goods shipped , an average daily increase of 9% over the previous year .

The rapid growth in business volume enabled the company to achieve its 2020 financial targets ahead of schedule and set a revenue record in more than 50 years, with total revenue of 19.1 billion euros, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year , or approximately 2.7 billion euros.

Pearson said: We can achieve three years of growth in three months. As for whether the rise and fall of the consumer-led e-commerce economy after the epidemic crisis will have a huge impact on us, I don’t think it is very important, after all, DHL Express now also relies on B2B business.
