According to recent foreign media reports, the number of sellers on the Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries (hereinafter referred to as "WB") exceeded 100,000 in January. WB expects the number of new sellers on the platform to increase further in 2021.
In order to cope with the increasing number of sellers, WB recently launched a new seller backend to simplify the registration process for sellers and enhance the security of the platform . It is reported that in the new version, not only Russian sellers can quickly register, but sellers from other countries can also enjoy the simplified registration process, which will greatly shorten the time for sellers to conduct business online. At present, sellers from Belarus and Kazakhstan can already use the quick registration function , and the list of other countries is still expanding.
In terms of security, WB has paid considerable attention to improving the security of access to the portal. After the new version is launched, sellers will be authorized to log in through mobile phone text message notification or SMS notification , thus reducing the possibility of unauthorized access to the portal.
WB staff revealed that in the near future, seller accounts will have multiple different access rights, which will allow them to assign functions to different employees and limit them to authorized access. Another new feature is that sellers can manage multiple supplier accounts and switch between them, speeding up data management (including content and pricing).
2020 was an extraordinary year for WB. Boosted by the pandemic, WB's turnover reached 437.2 billion rubles (about 38.4 billion yuan) last year, and the number of sellers on the platform soared from 19,000 to 91,000 . In addition, the historic breakthrough in the number of sellers is inseparable from the opening of new sites . The editor has previously reported that WB opened new sites in Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine in 2020, and then launched the platform's tenth site - Germany in mid-January this year.
Artem Dotsenko, head of WB development, said that the new changes in the seller backend are only the first step. In order to better serve sellers, they will work hard in many aspects to make the transaction process on WB more convenient and safer. Russia |
