East Japan Railway Company, commonly known as JR East, is a railway company with its main operating areas in Kanto and Tohoku regions of Japan. JR East operates 69 lines with a total railway line length of 7,457.3 kilometers and an average daily passenger volume of 17.1 million. It is the largest passenger railway operator in Japan.
